Musei Vaticani Information Architecture & Cultural Mapping 2025

Making the vastness of a historical heritage accessible and seamless for every audience.
The Context: The Vatican Museums house one of the world's largest concentrations of art and historical data. Faced with this immensity, visitors and researchers can easily feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information. The challenge of this project was not just to list artworks, but to design a navigation architecture capable of structuring this monumental catalog to make it welcoming, readable, and engaging, removing both technical and cultural barriers.

The System: I focused on a deep restructuring of visual hierarchy and data mapping. By developing clean interface grids, intuitive filtering systems, and clear digital signage, I transformed complex indexes into a smooth exploration journey. Every graphic component was crafted to guide the eye naturally, allowing users to transition seamlessly from a macroscopic overview (eras, galleries) to the microscopic details of a single masterpiece, all within a serene navigation experience.

The Result: Here, design serves as a tool for cultural transmission. By replacing database complexity with a clear, content-respectful interface, the project places the human element and artistic emotion back at the center of the experience. It stands as proof that a rigorous visual structure can unlock a universal heritage, allowing everyone to find their way with clarity and simplicity.
