Mittelsächsisches Theater Brand Identity & Systems Design 2026

Anchoring a historic cultural institution within a modern and adaptable visual framework.
The Context: The Mittelsächsisches Theater must honor its history and physical presence in the city while bringing a diverse artistic program to life (opera, musicals, classical theater). The challenge of this rebranding was to design a visual identity capable of unifying these different disciplines. The goal was to build a symbolic bridge between the architectural landmark and a contemporary space for creative and cultural exchange open to everyone.

The System: I centered the new identity around a redesigned logo that integrates the letters "MiT" into a clean geometric composition. The graphic structure draws direct inspiration from the lines of the building’s facade, linking the institution to its physical environment. To support the theater's daily operations, I developed a flexible brand guideline system. This modular framework adapts to various theatrical genres and seasonal changes while maintaining consistent, recognizable visual cues.

The Result: The design brings clarity and a contemporary voice back to the institution. By turning architectural heritage and a multifaceted program into a fluid communication system, this project proves that a rigorous visual identity can respect tradition while making it accessible and meaningful for today's audiences.
